Dual Side Fairings
Positioned along the trailer sides at the far end, SmartTruck Side Fairings redirect high-energy airflow around the back corners into the low-energy wake. Side Fairings are molded from durable Thermoformed TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin), chosen due to its capacity to return to its molded shape after taking some load. This manufacturing process is common in bumpers and other plastic molded parts for highway use.
LeadEdge Top Fairing
The LeadEdge Top Fairing is designed to help manage the disruptive drag created in the gap at the front top edge of the trailer. Molded from Thermoformed TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin), our LeadEdge Top Fairing provides additional drag reduction and fuel savings both in combination with our SmartTruck Classic system, and as a stand-alone fairing.
Located at the far rear end of the undertrailer, the rear diffuser further accelerates, compresses and injects air into low-energy wake behind the trailer. Like the forward diffuser, the rear diffuser is molded from Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) similar to other rotational molded products found in automotive and highway applications. This provides a strong UV-stable product that is capable of maintaining its structure and shape in a variety of road conditions, as well as having excellent impact resistance.
